Carole Lea Johnson, MD
Dr. Johnson was born and raised in Kentucky. After graduating first in her class from Bourbon County High School, she graduated from the University of Tennessee where she was the recipient of several academic scholarships. She was an active member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority including being her chapter’s Membership Chairman and Vice President. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology with the University of Tennessee’s highest honors. Dr. Johnson graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine where she was honored with the university’s academic excellence scholarship as well as early admission into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree with the college of medicine’s highest honors. Dr. Johnson performed her internship and residency at the Medical University of South Carolina; she was chief resident her final year of training. She practiced in Asheville, NC for a year, but realized she wanted to be closer to family, so she moved to Alabama. She was in private practice in Ozark, AL before moving her practice to Dothan, AL, first at Southeast Alabama Medical Center and then at 500 Healthwest Dr. She became the sole dermatologist at Dermatology Center South in March 2015. She has been board certified since 1993. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a member of the Alabama Dermatology Society. She is married to Taylor Flowers and has one child, a son, Caleb. She is a life-long Episcopalian and an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Nativity.
Shannon is a certified medical assistant and is the office manager of Dermatology Center South. She will assist you with any insurance or financial issues. She is also available with any concerns you have about the practice.
Lisa is a registered nurse and assists the doctor with patient care. She also serves as a direct liaison between the patient and the doctor. She is responsible for prior authorizations for medications. She cannot give advice to anyone who has not been seen by Dr. Johnson.
Sabrina is our receptionist who joined our staff full time in June 2016. Sabrina will assist you with scheduling appointments and verifying that we have the information needed to efficiently transmit your claims to your insurance company and that we have current contact information for you so that the doctor/nurse can contact you if needed.
