Robert W. Leitner, BA, BS, OD, FAAO
Robert W. Leitner, O.D., graduated Magna Cum Laude from Carson-Newman College, Jefferson City, TN, with a bachelor’s degree in 1977. Dr. Leitner attended the Southern College of Optometry, Memphis, TN, where he earned his doctorate of optometry degree with honors in 1983. After graduation from optometry school, he completed a residency in Pediatric Optometry and Vision Training. Dr. Leitner was inducted as a Fellow into the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) in 1991.
Dr. Leitner’s professional career began at Southern College of Optometry where he taught from 1983-1987 as an Assistant Professor. He was named Outstanding Faculty Member of the year in 1984, 1986 and 1987. Dr. Leitner proceeded into private practice in 1987 in Okmulgee, OK. Since 1996, Dr. Leitner and his family have called Albany home where he has been in practice.
Dr. Leitner has a special interest in primary vision care, problem-focused eye examinations and pre and post-operative surgical care.
In Dr. Leitner’s spare time, he enjoys visiting car shows and museums. He has been married to his wife, Martha Bridges Leitner, of Memphis, Tennessee, since 1982. They have three children: Jason, Paige and Lindy. Dr. Leitner and his wife reside in Albany, GA.
