
Optometrist
Julia H. Gannon, O.D. earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from The University Of The South in Sewanee, Tennessee in 1984, and her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1990. Upon graduation from UAB, she was inducted as a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society. Prior to joining the Vision Center South team, Dr. Gannon practiced in Birmingham, Alabama with Michael A. Callahan, M.D. and Associates and with The Alabama Eye and Cataract Center P.C., both affiliates of the University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical Center.
Dr. Gannon is a licensed and certified Optometrist who is dedicated to providing outstanding eye care to meet her patient’s needs. She focuses on primary eye care, including routine eye examinations, glasses and contact lens fittings, refractive surgery/laser vision consultations, surgical pre and post-operative care, and the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases and injuries including infections, glaucoma, and diabetic eye disease.
Dr. Gannon has been a member of The American Optometric Association and The Alabama Optometric Association for over 25 years. A native of Alabama, Dr. Gannon grew up in Mobile. She and her husband, Stuart, have been happily married since 1986, and attend St. James Episcopal Church in Alexander City, Alabama. They have three children and enjoy spending their free time with family and friends on Lake Martin.
I had my first visit with Dr. Gannon today, and I would give her and her staff an A+. I was totally pleased when I left their office, and I rarely say that about any of the other businesses in Wetumpka.
