Austin R. Henkel, M.D., graduated in 2004 from the University of Florida with a B.S. in Public Relations and obtained his medical degree from the Florida State University College of Medicine in 2013. During medical school, Dr. Henkel was honored to serve as Class President and as a charter member of the Ophthalmology Interest Group at FSU COM.

Dr. Henkel completed his Internal Medicine Internship at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare and his Medical Ophthalmology residency at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY.

Dr. Henkel received many awards and accolades while at Florida State University College of Medicine with the Myra M. Hurt Leadership in Medicine Award, the Florida Board of Medicine Chairman’s Recognition Award and the Gold Humanism Honor Society.

Dr. Henkel is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Upon completing his medical residency, Dr. Henkel, a Florida Panhandle native moved back to Niceville, FL with his wife and four children to serve his community in eye care.
