Deepa Mishra, O.D.

Deepa Mishra, O.D. earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2017. She earned her Doctorate of Optometry at Birmingham in 2021.

As an Optometry student, Dr. Mishra participated in a student externship at the Montgomery Veterans Affairs Clinic in Montgomery, Alabama where she provided comprehensive eyecare to veterans with various ocular diseases, and also participated in telehealth initiatives.

Dr. Misha also served as a student clinician at the UAB School of Optometry where she provided individualized care and treatment to patients across multiple UAB School of Optometry clinics. She rotated on specialty care clinics including Myopia Control Clinic, Specialty Contact Lens, Vision Therapy, Mild Traumatic Brain Injury, and Sports-Related Concussion Clinic.

Dr. Mishra was heavily involved in leadership/community involvement activities while seeking her Doctorate degree. She held offices within the Student Volunteers in Optometric Services to Humanity, National Optometric Student Association =, and the American Academy of Optometry UAB Chapter. She was also an active member of the American Optometric Student Association.

During her undergraduate tenure, she founded the Honors College Scholars Leadership Council to mentor peers within the Honors College program.

Dr. Mishra has demonstrated her commitment to excellence in receiving several honors and awards such as AAO Student Fellow, Dr. Aharon Sternberg Endowed Optometry Scholarship, and Honors College Scholar.

She is a native of Hoover, Alabama, and joined the Vision Center South staff in the summer of 2021. Her hobbies include dancing, baking, and visiting local coffee shops. She looks forward to building her practice in the Wiregrass region.

Dr. Mishra is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Alabama Optometric Association.
