Sarah Amanullah, M.D

Dr. Sarah Amanullah is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery and comprehensive ophthalmology. She brings advanced surgical training and a patient-centered approach to the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of eye conditions, with a special interest in helping patients achieve their best possible vision through modern cataract care. Dr. Amanullah offers advanced cataract surgery with specialty lens options, including toric and multifocal/presbyopia correcting lenses, as well as minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS).

After completing her undergraduate studies at Harvard University, Dr. Amanullah completed both her ophthalmology residency and a fellowship in Global Ophthalmology at the prestigious Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. Her clinical and research experience includes cataract surgery, advanced lens technology, and glaucoma, including research examining outcomes with the Light Adjustable Lens (LAL). During her fellowship in global ophthalmology, she traveled throughout sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia and South America to perform and to teach eye surgery in underserved communities. She also helped in teaching Wills Eye residents in the clinic and operating room.

Prior to joining Eye Center South, Dr. Amanullah practiced as a cataract surgeon and comprehensive ophthalmologist in Houston, Texas. She has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications and ophthalmic research and previously served as a Clinical Instructor at Thomas Jefferson University. Dr. Amanullah is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Outside of medicine, she enjoys being outdoors, traveling and spending time with her family. She is committed to individualized care and working together with her patients to help them achieve their vision goals.
