Richard Mauer, M.D.

Dr. Richard Mauer is a board-certified ophthalmologist with more than 33 years of experience specializing in advanced cataract surgery, refractive surgery (LASIK/PRK), minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), and cosmetic/medical oculoplastic procedures. He is known for delivering exceptional surgical outcomes and compassionate, patient-focused care. Throughout his career, Dr. Mauer has performed thousands of cataract and refractive procedures using the latest technologies, including femto second-laser assisted cataract surgery, premium lifestyle lens implants, Contoura-guided LASIK, and ORA intraoperative guidance. His clinical expertise spans the full spectrum of eye disease management-glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, corneal disorders, and dry eye disease.

Prior to joining Eye Center South, Dr. Mauer successfully owned and operated a multi-location ophthalmology practice for over 30 years, leading a large clinical team and overseeing a full surgical and optical center. He has also contributed to multiple clinical studies and remains dedicated to continual advancements in patient care.
