What is Astigmatism?

Astigmatism is caused by an irregularly shaped cornea and impairs one’s ability to focus on images either close up or far away. In individuals with astigmatism, the cornea, or surface of the eye, is steeper in one direction than the other. Ways to treat astigmatism include corrective glass lenses, hard or soft contact lenses, or LASIK surgery.

If you have astigmatism and have considered having LASIK surgery for correction, please call Eye Center South to schedule your FREE LASIK evaluation with Dr. M. Heersink, Dr. Sebastian Heersink or Dr. Zsolt Bansagi, to see if you are a candidate for surgery.   Call 1- 800-NEW-EYES or 800-467-1393.
